On Sunday, a common meeting was held between the Financial Intelligence Unit of Islamic Republic of Iran (IRIFIU) and delegation of South Africa from National Treasury and Trade and Industry departments in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance.
The objectives of this meeting were: to be familiar with IRIFIU achievements, structures and measures in AML/CFT area, explore the opportunities and ways of bilateral/multilateral cooperation, co-organize technical AML/CFT workshops and seminars, and create a condition for exchanging experiences between the two countries in the field of AML/CFT.
At this meeting, Mr. Ahmadabadi (Director General of IRIFIU) after welcoming speech briefed the background, measures and cooperation of IRIFIU both at domestic and international levels in the field of AML/CFT. At the end, Mr. Ahmadabadi expressed his satisfaction and declared that Islamic Republic of Iran is reinforcing anti-money laundering measures in line with international initiatives and standards with a view to guaranteeing the integrity of the financial system both in the Islamic Republic of Iran and abroad. Representatives of South Africa also expressed their satisfaction from this meeting and affirmed the need to begin close collaboration between two countries in the area of AML/CFT.
